Wandering around Tokyo

Yesterday we wandered around this enormous city without much of a plan or even a decent map. We found it hard to find a map that had managed to fit the while town into it without being too zoomed out and therefore quite useless since the streets are no longer visible. So we ended up guessing our way around with some help from directions provided by very friendly locals that didn’t know a single word in English… Eventually we managed to find our way to some points of interest that we had been recommended to visit. We started the day by taking the subway to the electronic shopping districts of Akhiabara and visit the huge department store Yodobashi Camera with eight floors! After spending a couple of hours in there looking at all kinds of electronic gadgets and ”trying out” the massage chairs for quite a while we continued the day with some lunch (delicious of course) at a very cozy and nice street full of restaurants that we found in an area called Shinjuku. Up to this point during the day we were surprised by how uncrowded the streets had been so to change this and instead experience some real crowds we headed for the part of town named Shibuya. There we got to cross the street with a few hundred other people at the famous Shibuya Crossing and walked around for a bit before we headed back home to give our poor feet some well deserved rest!

Gabriella_Edebo-0112We wanted to visit one of the parks but it turned out to be closed… Gabbe wouldn’t let that stop him though!

We got lost a few times but this police officer was very helpful even though he didn’t know a single word of English!

The subway map is slightly more complicated than the one we have back home in Stockholm...
